Our Services

Surgery Hours.  Our surgery is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. All our doctors work at varying times throughout the week. If you wish to see a specific doctor, we will do our best to respect your choice.  It is helpful to see the same doctor regarding the same problem. However, specific doctors may not be available at short notice.

Appointments.  We operate an appointment system with a range of appointment times spread across the week.

  • Same Day Appointments.   These are reserved appointments for both urgent and routine problems which allow our patients to be seen on the day they phone for an appointment. You may not be able to be seen by the doctor of your choice and the choice of times will be limited. Phone as early as possible after 8 am on the day to make the appointment.
  • Advance Booked Appointments.  These appointments can be booked up to a month in advance and will allow you to choose the doctor and the time you are seen, subject to availability.
  • Out-of-Hours Appointments.  For working parents who cannot attend during normal surgery hours, we offer one doctor's surgery per week from 5.30pm on a Monday or a Wednesday evening.  Appointments may be booked in advance up to 4.30pm on the day of the surgery.

Telephone Advice.  If you would like to speak to a doctor for advice contact the surgery. If a doctor is not immediately available you will be asked to phone back at a particular time or asked to leave your contact number for us to contact you.

Home Visits.  If you are unable to come to the surgery and you think that you need a doctor to visit you at home then please contact the surgery by 10 am.

Test Results.  Please telephone 536 9800 between 11am and 4pm for results at least 3 days after your test unless the doctor has asked you to ring earlier. Please hand in any specimens for testing before 2pm.

Contraceptive Advice.  Any of the doctors and the nurse will be happy to advise you on family planning matters. Please make a normal appointment.

Cervical Smears.  From 6th June 2016, the age range for cervical screening will change from 20-60 to age 25-64. The frequency of cervical screening will continue to be every three years from age 25-49, but will change to every 5 years for women from age 50-64. All eligible patients will be called by letter when they are due for a smear. Please make an appointment with the nurse to have the smear taken when you receive your recall letter.

Antenatal & Postnatal Checks.  Patients are seen by the GP or midwife during normal surgery hours. The community midwife team meet the patient when she attends for her first booking visit. They also arrange antenatal classes later on in the pregnancy.

Baby Clinic. A drop in clinic runs on a Wednesday morning 10-11:30am.   A new mums group runs on a Monday morning from 10:30-12:00 for first time parents, by appointment only, to support issues raised in the early months of life with a new baby.   Routine deveolpment assessments will be carried out by appointment given within our team by telephone or letter.  Child immunisations administered by Practice Nurse.

Counselling Services.  We can arrange for you to see our Community Psychiatric Nurse or recommend various local counselling agencies.

Travel Advice. Our Nurses offer a basic NHS travel advice service including NHS provided immunisations and advice on the particular country to which you are travelling. YOU MUST ALLOW AT LEAST SIX WEEKS BEFORE YOUR DATE OF DEPARTURE FOR TRAVEL VACCINATIONS TO TAKE EFFECT. This will give time to work out a programme of protection and, more importantly, to complete your vaccination course before you travel. You may have to attend a private clinic for non NHS vaccinations for which there will be a charge.

Chronic Disease Management.  If you have asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or any other chronic disease it is important that you are seen at least once or twice a year by a doctor or nurse for a review of your medication and to ensure that you are keeping as well as possible.

Health Promotion.  Our practice nurse and the GP's offer advice on diet, stopping smoking, weight reduction and avoidance of disease.
